Let's talk today about yellow spots in the lawn specifically caused by grub damage. So when I'm diagnosing a lawn when we're out here looking at lawns, the first thing that we're going to do is we're going to stick this down into the ground.
And it what it does is it pulls a little sample of soil, we're going to check for moisture, we're going to make sure that the moisture goes down nice and deep. So this lawn actually has a good amount of moisture. It goes down at least six inches deep. We've got good saturation, which is a huge indicator that these spots are not from drought.

Next step what I'm going to do, looking for roof damage, I'm going to get down on my hands and easily flip this over. I like
to go to a spot that has a little bit of green in there so you can know they're still active grubs, you're going to grab a handful. This is going to peel up basically like carpet. So peels up, then you're going to start sifting through the root system. Through the soil. Do you see how this just continues to peel back nice and easy? It's a really good indicator that you have something here. And if you look right there, we can see a grub.

So you'll see grubs have a red tip there just a white larva with a red tip. They cause a lot of damage that goes through and eat the grass kill off your lawn. If you think that this is just a watering issue, and you're not actually getting down on your hands and knees and looking, you could turn your timer up, you could water more and it's just going to get worse. You're going to spend more money on water, you're in wastewater, your lawn is going to look even worse. So get down on your hands and knees. Look for these grubs.
